Thank you for stopping by, happy summer!

    Welcome!

    Thank you for visiting!

I’m Sam Doyle, and I’m running for Mountlake Terrace city council because I believe in democracy, community, and a government that truly reflects the people it serves.

Whether you’re a lifelong resident or new to the neighborhood, I’m running to ensure your voice is heard and your values are represented. Let’s build a stronger Mountlake Terrace—together.

Now is the time to step up, not sit out. Together, we can make Mountlake Terrace a more inclusive, affordable, welcoming, and vibrant place for everyone.

    About Me

I’ve spent my life in public service—as a longtime UW Medicine employee, an oncology nurse practitioner, and a parent committed to making this city a better place for the next generation.

My work connects me with people from all walks of life, often during their most vulnerable moments. I bring compassion, critical thinking, and a deep respect for difference to every interaction.

I also bring those same values to civic life, whether through my service on the Mountlake Terrace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission or by founding “Democracy in Action,” a 500+ member grassroots group focused on increasing civic engagement in our community.

I believe deeply in the power of local government to change lives for the better. I’m running to ensure Mountlake Terrace is a place where everyone belongs, small businesses thrive, and no one is left behind.

Let’s Build a Better Mountlake Terrace, Together

I’m proud to stand with neighbors for an affordable, safe, inclusive, and healthy Mountlake Terrace.

I believe that no action is too small, and no voice should go unheard. *Your* voice counts.

Together, let’s make Mountlake Terrace a city where everyone can thrive.

    My priorities

    Affordable Housing

Rising housing costs are pushing working families out. I’ll support smart upzoning, relaxed ADU requirements, and renter protections that ensure everyone can afford to live here, while protecting the character of what makes this such a special place to live.

    Public Safety

I support smart, accountable public safety that keeps all our neighbors safe. I oppose mass surveillance technologies like Flock cameras that undermine residents’ privacy and civil rights. Safety must never come at the cost of freedom. We need to look at proactive ways of increasing safety in our community, not just reactive. Supporting funding for addiction treatment, community centers, DV shelters, and residents' basic needs can all contribute to a decrease in crime.

    A Thriving Local Economy

Mountlake Terrace’s town center has come a long way since I moved here in 2012, but there’s more work to do. I’ll champion programs that attract and support small and local businesses—especially in our downtown core.

As a mom and 32 year resident of MLT, I care deeply about our community and I’m proud to support Sam Doyle for City Council.

Sam represents the values that matter most to me—compassion, intelligence, and a deep commitment to creating a better future for everyone.  She’s easy to talk to, genuinely listens, and brings people together by focusing on what unites us rather than what divides us.  She doesn’t just talk about change—she rolls up her sleeves and gets to work.

Having worked with her on projects, I know she will work hard to make real and transparent progress on issues that matter to our city.  I believe Sam will help guide the future direction of our city’s development with fairness, and vision.  Our city needs leaders like Sam— real people, not life-long politicians, who care deeply, think clearly, and work collaboratively.  I trust her, and I hope you will too.

I have had the privilege of knowing Sam Doyle for over a dozen years, and I can say with absolute confidence that she is the leader Mountlake Terrace needs. Sam is a fearless advocate, dedicated to fairness and justice for all, regardless of our differences. She believes deeply in the strength of our democracy and will work tirelessly to uphold it.

Beyond her commitment to public service, Sam is one of the smartest people I know. Her ability to break down complex issues into clear, accessible, and actionable solutions is extraordinary. As a medical professional specializing in oncology, she navigates one of the most complex fields with remarkable expertise, compassion, and humility—giving her a firsthand understanding of the challenges people face every day.

Her determination is unmatched. No matter the obstacle, Sam approaches it with grace, wisdom, and an unwavering sense of humor that lifts those around her, even in the toughest times. But what truly sets her apart is her ability to listen, care, and take decisive action. She doesn’t just fight for what’s right—she embodies it.

Sam is part of what is “right and good” in this world. She is bright, dedicated, and unwavering in her commitment to the community. More than that, she is a loving human, a loyal friend, and a trusted colleague.

I could not be more proud to endorse Sam Doyle for Mountlake Terrace City Council.

I’m proud to support Sam Doyle for MLT City Council. As a longtime Mountlake Terrace resident and oncology nurse practitioner with nearly 20 years in public service, Sam brings the fresh perspective and principled leadership our community needs.

Sam doesn’t just talk about community engagement, she delivers. As founder of Democracy in Action-MLT, former member of the city’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission, and active volunteer with Cancer Pathways and community celebrations, she’s proven her commitment to building an inclusive Mountlake Terrace.

Her recent testimony challenging the police department’s surveillance system proposal showcased exactly why we need her voice on council. While respecting our officers’ important work, Sam asked critical questions about privacy, data sharing, and protecting all residents, including our most vulnerable neighbors. She believes in transparency, community input, and addressing crime’s root causes through affordable housing, human services, and economic opportunity.

After 17 years with the same representation in Position No. 1, it’s time for new energy and perspectives. Sam’s platform focuses on what matters most: affordable housing, enhanced human services, and commercial development that benefits everyone.

Sam Doyle will advocate for civil liberties, support working families, and ensure major decisions are made with full community knowledge and participation. She represents the principled, community-focused leadership Mountlake Terrace deserves.

Sam Doyle has been a friend since she was in grade school. We have followed and been part of her schooling, career, three generations of family and home in MLT. Sam is a hard-working,  committed progressive whose value to MLT will not be matched.

I have had the good fortune to collaborate with Sam Doyle as a community organizer, and I can say unequivocally that she has all the qualities of an excellent representative of the citizens of Mountlake Terrace: knowledge, compassion, and cooperative leadership.

Sam takes the time to understand an issue fully, including its history and the ramifications of the possible actions to address it. She knows that just as no problem exists in a vacuum, neither does the solution. She waits until she has all of the facts: then she researches the steps necessary to achieve a goal that best serves the people affected.

City Council Member is not a highly paid position; only people who truly care for their community are motivated to seek it. Sam understands that this is the basis of a democratic government - of a government that works for the people. She believes in fair play for everyone, and values each person’s contribution.

Sam is efficient. She excels at making the best use of time, for herself and people she works with. She doesn’t grandstand; she makes sure everyone is heard, while ensuring steady progress toward the ultimate goal.

I can think of no one better to represent the community of Mountlake Terrace.

Sam Doyle has my whole-hearted endorsement.
